Northeast Indiana Events Highlighting Quality of Life

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, in collaboration with Visit Fort Wayne and the convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) throughout the region, announces the launch of www.CurrentNEI.com, which highlights select events in the region’s 11 counties.

Built as an extension of Visit Fort Wayne’s www.CurrentFortWayne.com website, CurrentNEI.com showcases a selection of the region’s top events for residents and visitors alike by providing information on sports, arts, entertainment, festivals and educational events.

On CurrentNEI.com, events can be sorted by category, keyword or date—making it easy for people to find the events of interest to them.

Michael Galbraith, director of the Road to One Million for the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, believes that marketing the region’s events is important as we connect visitors and residents with all of the quality of life assets available in Northeast Indiana’s 11 counties.

“Our region offers vast opportunities for leisure and entertainment, which speaks to the high quality of life in Northeast Indiana. Communities throughout our 11 counties provide residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy unique festivals, experience live music and explore trails and waterways, all in one day. Connecting people to our community through events can help retain talent and potentially convert visitors into future residents. CurrentNEI.com captures the top events throughout the region to showcase the depth and breadth of options at any given time,” said Galbraith.

Participating CVBs include:

  1. Adams County

  2. Visit Fort Wayne in Allen County

  3. DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau

  4. Visit Huntington

  5. Visit Kosciusko County

  6. Visit Shipshewana in LaGrange County

  7. Visit Noble County

  8. Steuben County Tourism Bureau

  9. Visit Wabash County

  10. Wells County Arts, Commerce & Visitors Centre

  11. Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center

Jill Boggs, CEO of the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau, said marketing Northeast Indiana’s events broadly can encourage residents and visitors to explore the region like never before.

“We are working collaboratively across county lines to provide a list of events for visitors and the nearly 790,000 people in our 11-county region. By partnering with other CVBs in Northeast Indiana, we can share ideas, resources and marketing capabilities to attract new visitors and talent to each of our counties. By showcasing so many opportunities in one place, we might be able to convert a day visitor into an overnight guest or an overnight guest into a weekend guest. This collaboration makes our region stronger,” said Boggs.

Kristen Guthrie, vice president of marketing and communications at Visit Fort Wayne, said, “We are delighted to partner with the CVBs in Northeast Indiana to provide this community calendar of events to the region, building off of the success and awareness of CurrentFortWayne.com. We know that the number one barrier to people engaging in community activities is that they aren’t aware of the events in advance. Promoting CurrentNEI.com to the community will help Northeast Indiana residents engage with their community as they discover new events around the region.”
