GKB Career Development Program Signing Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Local seniors are participating in a signing day to celebrate their new jobs.

[Garrett, Indiana, May 13, 2019] The first year of Garrett-Keyser-Butler’s Career Development

Program has been a success. The program seeks to encourage students to explore training,

mentorship, and programs that develop their skills in manufacturing and construction. In their

first year, seniors have successfully completed the integrated program and signed with local

companies as new employees.

“This year, seven seniors have secured gainful employment in the construction industry,”

explains Chad Sutton, Director of Career Development. “We are going to recognize their hard

work and the path these students are pursuing by holding a signing day.”

On signing day, like an athlete who is signing with a college team, these seniors will be

recognized by their peers, teachers, local business owners and politicians for all of their hard

work. The celebration is open to the public and media.

In 2018, there were 6.7 million jobs available in the labor industry. The Career Development

Program offers a different option, providing an alternative to student loans, and a promising job

right out of high school. The program can be started as early as fifth grade, equipping students

with the skills, experience, and connections to be successful in their chosen field.

“This has been an exciting first year of learning for us and our students,” Sutton says. “We are

proud of them for all they have accomplished.”
