LAOTTO — Country Heritage Winery and Vineyard of LaOtto has acquired Chateau Thomas Winery in Plainfield and its tasting room in Nashville, Indiana, the business announced.
Obstetrician and gynecologist Charles Thomas and his wife, Jill, opened Chateau Thomas Winery in 1984. The winery was offered for sale at the end of last year. Thomas died in February.
“We were fortunate enough to begin this process in early December with Dr. Thomas. If you have stopped in the Plainfield location over the last couple of weeks, you might’ve seen and talked with several CHW employees about the exciting upcoming changes,” Country Heritage said in a posting on its Facebook page.
During the transition, Chateau Thomas wine still will be sold at the Plainfield and Nashville locations.
“Once we get through the transitional phases, we then will be only selling Country Heritage wines and hard ciders. We will continue the legacy of the Jug Series wines and Slender Wines,” Country Heritage said.
Country Heritage is located in the 0100 block of DeKalb C.R. 68 south of LaOtto. Proprietors Jeremy and Jennifer Lutter opened the winery April 29, 2011, on their family-owned farm.
