WATERLOO — Casey’s General Store opened recently on the southwest corner of U.S. 6 and S.R. 427 in downtown Waterloo.
It becomes the 120th Casey’s store in Indiana, said Mike Richardson, vice president of marketing and advertising for the chain. Casey’s operates a total of 2,139 sites across 16 states, ranking as the fourth-largest convenience store chain in the nation.
The 3,400-square-foot Waterloo store includes seating for diners to consume food from its large kitchen — homemade subs to go, made-to-order subs and pizza made on site.
“We are the fifth-largest pizza chain in America by the number of kitchens that are out there,” Richardson said.
Casey’s also sells a wide variety of beverages, sandwiches, chicken strips, snacks, candy and tobacco. The store’s 10 fueling sites offer e-10, e-15 and e-85 gasoline and diesel fuel.
The store employs approximately 30 people — with about 20 full-time jobs, Richardson said.
Just over half of Casey’s stores are located in communities of fewer than 5,000 residents. The publicly traded company’s stock is listed as CASY on the NASDAQ exchange.
