AUBURN — Simply N Style opened in Auburn last month, offering women’s clothing, shoes, accessories and purses.
Owner Janie Garrison of Kendallville said she “drove around Auburn for weeks, just looking around” for the right storefront for her resale shop and found it at 117 W. 9th Street. She signed the lease with owner Roger Eddy over Labor Day weekend and opened Oct. 12.
“I just love Auburn!” she said.
Garrison, a retired emergency medical technician, said she learned two consignment/resale shops were going out of business and purchased their inventories.
“It gave us a good start,” she said. Her daughter, Rayanna Garrison, still in high school, helps out with the shop.
“It’s been an adventure,” Rayanna said.
Simply N Style offers name-brand women’s clothing in sizes 0-24 and shoes from size 5 to 11, including brands such as Coach, Nike, Dooney & Burke, BKE, Torrid, Silvers, Guess, Vera Bradley and boutique items, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch and CJ Banks, among others.
Items include tops, jeans, outerwear and formals.
The shop buys items outright or offers store credit, Garrison said. Tops range from $3.99 and jeans start at $5.99, depending on brand names.
Shoes sell quickly with no shoe stores in Auburn, she added.
Garrison is looking for spring and summer items to purchase, especially with spring break around the corner. She especially is looking for dressier, knee-length shorts.
Her goal is to liquidate her inventory of formals as soon as possible to make room for children’s wear.
“Kids — that is my huge goal,” she said.
Down the road, she would like to add men’s wear, but said those items are hard to find.
“Men wear clothes down to rags, hard to come by, shoes, too” she said.
